Some homes are designed. Others are lived into.
This home was both.
In 2020, our family made the decision to leave Manhattan and begin a new chapter in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. Drawn to its coastal charm, sense of community, and slower pace of life, we rented a home that would unexpectedly become so much more than a temporary address.
A few years later, we purchased the property and embarked on a complete transformation, taking the house back to its exterior walls and reimagining it from the inside out. What emerged was not simply a renovation, but a deeply personal exploration of how thoughtful design can support the rhythms of family life.

The floor plan was entirely reconsidered to create greater functionality, flow, and connection. New spaces were introduced to accommodate the realities of everyday living, including a hardworking mudroom, a dedicated laundry room, expanded storage solutions, and gathering spaces designed for both intimate family moments and larger celebrations. Every decision was guided by a singular goal: creating a home that felt beautiful, effortless, and deeply lived in.

The material palette reflects a balance between timelessness and warmth. European white oak floors run throughout the home, layered with custom millwork. The result is a home that feels collected rather than decorated, refined yet approachable.

Equally important was the transformation of the exterior. The outdoor spaces were designed as an extension of the home itself, creating a private retreat for family dinners, summer gatherings, and quiet mornings. Every corner was thoughtfully considered to foster connection to both nature and one another.

For four years, this home served as the backdrop to our family’s life. It witnessed birthdays, holidays, late-night conversations, and countless everyday moments that ultimately become the most meaningful. It became a safe landing place while we dreamed, planned, and began creating our next home from the ground up.
As fate would have it, a once in a lifetime property became available, inspiring our family’s next chapter. While we look forward to what comes next, this home will always hold a special place in our hearts.
More than a renovation, it was a lesson in the power of home.
A place of refuge.
A place of belonging.
The house that held us.
